The Role

The Asset Data Engineer plays a leading role in assisting the General Manager of Property and Infrastructure (P&I) to undertake effective and sustainable asset management across a broad range of public infrastructure types.  They will contribute to the development, prioritisation and delivery of both annual and long term capital works and maintenance programs by:

  • Maintaining the accuracy and relevance of information contained within QLDC’s Geographic Information system (GIS) and Asset Management system (AMS) generated by private development and QLDC led capital works
  • Leading the development of asset management analytical services to both internal and external customers
  • Becoming the key resource in the use of QLDCs proposed AMS (Technology One Enterprise Asset Management), scheduled for implementation in 2018/19.

The Asset Data Engineer will be a key liaison with the corporate Knowledge Management / GIS Team.  


About You

Ideally, the successful candidate will have Knowledge of spatial analysis tools including ESRI software (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online) or Innovyze InfoNet together with an understanding of asset management systems related to Roading, Property and Three Waters assets.  Demonstrated analytical and creative problem-solving skills, and highly developed communication skills including the ability to persuade and influence to obtain optimal outcomes will be key to delivering success in this role, with the scope to collaborate and bring geo-spatial data to life.   

  • Minimum of a Bachelor-level university degree in Engineering or Geographic Information Systems (or similar) or a minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience in similar discipline relevant to the responsibilities of the position
  • Knowledge of spatial analysis tools including ESRI software (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online) or Innovyze InfoNet would be desirable
  • An understanding of asset management systems related to Roading, Property and Three Waters assets would be desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to take on responsibility and use initiative to prioritise and work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Able to work autonomously within established procedures and practices; as well as able to propose improvements to processes.
