The Role 

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our busy Parks Field Team in a Custodian/Gardener position. You will be responsible for the presentation of the Town Centre for locals and visitors to enjoy. This role will require you to build good relationships with retailers and property managers so customer service is key.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Keep the town centre in pristine condition using appropriate methods at all times
  • Responsible for operation of machinery
  • Identify issues and defects and using your initiative to resolve them where possible
  • Maintain, renovate and develop shrub, annual/perennial rose bed and native areas, weed control, leaf removal, mulching, spraying of weeds, disease control as specified in approved spraying programme
  • Ensure dealings with the public are carried out in such a way as to promote a friendly, customer-oriented image of QLDC
  • Be responsible for and operate high value equipment

The Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will hold:

  • Can do attitude
  • Enthusiasm to learn
  • Previous experience in amenity horticulture or general garden maintenance maybe beneficial
  • Competent with the effective and safe use of machinery and equipment.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and build upon working relationships effectively
  • Ability to work in all weather and climatic extremes.
  • A good level of health and physical fitness; role requires heavy lifting
  • Current and Full Drivers License
  • Be proud to be a part of a hardworking, diverse team

A requirement for this role will be that the successful applicant will be able to work weekends.
