The Role

The role of Duty Officer is responsible for supporting the Duty Supervisor in ensuring the safety and security of both users and visitors of the Queenstown Lakes District Sports and Recreation venues and also carrying out maintenance where required. You will be required to work towards improving safety, cleanliness and atmosphere of the venues, whilst supporting the wider Sport and Recreation team and acting as a point of contact for external contractors and customers.

This position may suit someone with a trade’s or handyman background or someone who has previously worked in the Customer Services or Retail sector who enjoys applying themselves practically. We are looking for two Duty Officers, who could divide the hours between full time and part time dependent on your preference. This is a shift work position inclusive of weekends and evenings.

About You

  • A current first aid certificate is desirable
  • NCEA Level 3 in Sports and Recreation or a Trade is desirable
  • Fire warden and staff safety training desirable
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience
  • Previous experience within a Sports and Recreation Facility is preferable
  • Ability to contribute towards a continuous improvement culture and motivating environment for staff
  • Highly motivated, achievement orientated and innovative professional
