The Organisation

Queenstown Lakes District Council is at the very heart of the community, employing over 450 staff; we manage infrastructure development, community recreational facilities and planning, building and other regulatory services. With an annual operational budget of over $100m and a capital expenditure programme of $990m over ten years, we are a major part of the District’s economy.

The Location

Queenstown is nestled in the Southern Alps of New Zealand on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and is rated as one of the World’s top destinations. The Role

We have an exciting new opportunity to contribute to strengthening and diversifying our districts economy.

Working with the Economic Development Manager and wider Strategy and Development team, you will help  Council play a key role in achieving  our Economic Development Strategy. This will involve supporting the administration, stakeholder management, project management and financial control of the team.  

About You

We are looking for a no nonsense professional who is solution focused, outcome focussed and enjoys working in a high performing team.

If you can tick the boxes below, we want to hear from you:

  • Tertiary qualification (bachelor’s degree)
  • 5 years’ workplace experience preferred (minimum 2 years). Specific Economic Development experience is not essential, but a strong desire to make a positive difference to our community is
  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills (ideally in a business setting)
  • Ability to develop and maintain administration systems and processes effectively.Proven track record of supporting innovative projects and people
  • Excellent communications skills and competent digital literacy.
