The Role

The Parks Contracts Manager is responsible for providing high quality recreation and open spaces in the Queenstown Lakes District. This includes managing service delivery to budget/agreed levels of performance, relationship management, governance of the contracts and associated documentation.

Together with the Asset Planning Team, the position also proactively identifies and informs network performance risks/capital investment requirements and manages the development and delivery of asset renewals programs.

This position exercises discretionary decision-making authority and supervisors two other team members.

About You

A successful candidate will have:

  • Seven plus years of proven experience in contracts management in Client, Consultant or Contractor space.
  • A sound knowledge and proven experience in the area of Open Space Management and/or Horticulture and/or Arboriculture and/or Turf Management.
  • Knowledge of contract formation and administration activities.
  • Knowledge of contract auditing and performance management.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with contractors and gain their trust and respect.
  • Ability to provide workable solutions to address a wide variety of contractual challenges particularly in situations involving change, stress and conflict.
  • Must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines with minimal supervision and work outside of core hours from time to time as required.
  • Ability to analyse data and prepare written reports in response to information requests (Proficient user of Microsoft Office).
  • Proven practical experience with financial information systems.
  • Well-developed people and communications skills and a strong customer ethos.
  • Convey a professional and positive image.
  • Tertiary qualification in a technical (Open Space Management or Horticulture or Arboriculture or Turf Management) or business related discipline desirable.
