The Role

The Parks Officer Volunteer/Community will provide active support to the Parks and Reserves Team, build and maintain positive community relationships, support and foster the growth of Community led volunteer groups  who will contribute to high quality parks, reserves and recreation in the Queenstown Lakes District. The role will co-ordinate and manage volunteer groups, and provide assistance to the Parks and Reserves team.

This position will be responsible for managing the relationship between the community, volunteer groups, Trusts and Councils Parks and Reserves team. Part of this process will be to ensure that (where applicable) each group has a relevant MOU (Memorandum of Understanding).

This position required a minimum of 30 hours per week.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline desirable.
  • Experience (3+ years) in the recreation industry or a customer relationship role
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining relationships across a broad range of sectors with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Extensive networks and credibility with the stakeholder community.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with contractors and gain their trust and respect.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to prioritise and meet deadlines with minimal supervision and work outside of core hours from time to time as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve targets.
